	We work the inshore mangroves and fringing coral from the inshore fishing boat and resort longboats for mangrove jack, trevally, coral trout, queenfish and narrow barred (Spanish) mackerel.
Depending on the time of year, we also offer heavy tackle bluewater fly fishing for wahoo, sailfish, yellowfin tuna and mahi mahi from the big game boat 'Bite Me'. From June to October (winter) we troll teasers to raise wahoo and Pacific sailfish into the spread for anglers to cast to. In summer (December to April) we focus on tuna and mahi mahi.
	We carry a limited amount of Cam Sigler rods and flies however we recommend you bring your own gear. Always best to fish gear you are used to as the offshore action can be fast and furious. For the inshore fishing we recommend #9-#12 weight rods and for offshore fishing #14-#17 weight rods are essential.

"Set along the Great Astrolabe Reef on the Southern Island of Kadavu Fiji is a very special place. Matava resort was a terrific stop. World class diving and snorkeling was what most guests were in search of . It has very scenic views and tropical charm, a great staff and accommodations. What I found while their , and would highly recommend is the offshore fishing. Capt. Adrian Watt and mate Joe are some of the best I have fished with .

Luckily, I have fished many places, with many captains  and crews.. It is, in my opinion, a world class wahoo destination, and  there are many other species available here depending on the season. Sailfish , Marlin, Trevally, tuna and big Barracuda just to mention a few. You will not be sure what will hit the baits . Whether you are conventional fishing or want to pursue fish with a fly as I did , Matava is a place to go and chase big pelagic fish, and if inclined set a few records. More than likely, you will be the only offshore boat on the reef."
